The
Prosperity Preacher Has Only One Thing On His Mind
The only thing
the prosperity preacher has on his mind is, you guessed it: MONEY!!! All his
sermons are geared up for it, as he (mis)-uses scriptures to promise you
financial blessings and wealth in return for giving tithes and sowing seeds
into his ministry. All he thinks about is how he can make the most profit out
of the sales of his books, DVD's, CD's, conferences, and seminars, and will
even charge you a non-refundable fee for signing up. He often guilt-trips you
by saying that your money is needed, because you as a Christian have the
responsibility to keep his ministry afloat, that reaches out to millions of
souls in the world.
This is a
serious epidemic in the body of Christ! Black or white, whether they are called
a prosperity preacher or not, they are all doing it!!!
We should
never allow ourselves to be fooled by these slick, smooth talking, often neck
jerking, false, greedy prosperity teachers, no matter how popular they are.
Never allow yourself to be fooled by the fact that they so-called give to help
the poor in third world countries.
There are so
many gullible Christians who are quick to point out that by saying these things,
you are judging these prosperity preachers who are doing such great work for
the Lord. Really? The Bible clearly says that we have the responsibility to
test everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit, whether it comes from God, and
to judge those inside the church,
which is the body of Christ.
Dear friends,
do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test
them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many
false prophets in the world. 1. John 4:1 NLT
…but it certainly
is your responsibility to judge those inside the church who are sinning. 1.
Corinthians 5:12 NLT
Now, here is
how you are supposed to test and judge these money hungry prosperity preachers
who are bending and twisting the scriptures, and in doing so, deceiving and
leading millions of people all around the world astray.
God seriously
warns us not to add or subtract from what is written in His Word, the Bible,
otherwise He will remove us from the tree of life!
And I solemnly
declare to everyone who hears the words of prophecy written in this book: If
anyone adds anything to what is written here, God will add to that person
the plagues described in this book. And if anyone removes any of the
words from this book of prophecy, God will remove that person’s share in the
tree of life and in the holy city that are described in this book. Revelation
22:18-19 NLT
Contrary
to what the prosperity preachers teach you, Jesus did not die to make you
financially wealthy, but to save you from your sins!
And she will
have a son, and you are to name Him Jesus, for He will save His people from
their sins. Matthew 1:21 NLT
Nowhere
in Bible does it say that Jesus will make you financially rich when you become
his follower and are a faithful tither and giver!
Furthermore,
a ministry of God should never be dependent on the giving and the grace of
people, but on God who builds it, provides for it, and causes it to increase.
For
every house has a builder, but the one who built everything is God.
Hebrews 3:4 NLT
For God is the
one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, He
will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest
of generosity in you. 2. Corinthians 9:10 NLT
Wouldn't you
think that these millionaire prosperity preachers would care about your
difficult financial circumstances when they say they follow Jesus Christ and
love you?
We know what
real love is because Jesus gave up His life for us. So we also ought to give up
our lives for our brothers and sisters. If someone has enough money to live
well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s
love be in that person?
Dear children,
let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our
actions. 1. John 3:16-18 NLT
No, they are
not there to help you or sow a seed in you! These prosperity preachers have one
thing on their minds and that is your MONEY
and how to figure out clever ways to get it from you! That's why they keep
emphasizing the Old Testament law of the must tithe of 10% of your
income to them, and the sowing of all sorts of seeds in exchange for financial
breakthroughs. They will put fear in you by saying that if you do not tithe,
you will be robbing God and be in danger of being cursed, and locusts will eat
everything you possess! They will always pressure you to give the specified
dollar amount on the spot, “right now!” as they say, “while the anointing is
present”, “do not delay, for God is about to bless your socks off”, “go to the
telephone right now, your healing is just around the corner”, “God will bless
your obedience”, “don't do it tomorrow, because it won't work later”, “you have
one minute left”, “quick, put it on your credit card”, and so it goes on and
on.
The Bible
calls these prosperity preachers rebellious people who engage in useless
talk and deceive others. This is especially true of those who insist on
circumcision for salvation. They must be silenced, because they are turning
whole families away from the truth by their false teaching. And they do it
only for money. (See Titus 1:10-11 NLT)
They are
called false teachers who will cleverly teach destructive heresies and even
deny the Master who bought them. In this way, they will bring sudden
destruction on themselves. Many will follow their evil teaching and shameful
immorality. And because of these teachers, the way of truth will be slandered.
In their greed they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money. (See
2. Peter 2:1-3 NLT)
Like Balaam, they
deceive people for money. And like Korah, they perish in their rebellion.
When these people eat with you in your fellowship meals commemorating the
Lord’s love, they are like dangerous reefs that can shipwreck you. They are
like shameless shepherds who care only for themselves. Jude 1:11-12 NLT
Here are some Biblical
examples of how you should handle your money as a New Testament Christian
believer, and none of them includes any obligation of tithing, nor the sowing
of any financial seed in exchange for a miracle!
You
must each decide in your heart how much to give.
And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person
who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you
will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.
As the Scriptures say, “They share freely and give generously to the poor.
Their good deeds will be remembered forever.” 2. Corinthians 9:7-9 NLT
Now regarding
your question about the money being collected for God’s people in Jerusalem.
You should follow the same procedure I gave to the churches in Galatia. On the
first day of each week, you should each put aside a portion of the money you
have earned. 1. Corinthians 16:1-3 NLT
Give
in proportion to what you have. Whatever
you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what
you have, not what you don’t have. Of course, I don’t mean your giving should
make life easy for others and hard for yourselves. I only mean that there
should be some equality. Right now you have plenty and can help those who are
in need. Later, they will have plenty and can share with you when you need it.
In this way, things will be equal. 2. Corinthians 8:11-14 NLT
And finally,
every true servant of God should follow the Christ-like example of the apostle
Paul who testified, saying the following:
So you can see
we were not preaching with any deceit or impure motives or trickery.
For we speak as messengers approved by God to be entrusted
with the Good News. Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines
the motives of our hearts. Never once did we try to win you with flattery, as
you well know. And God is our witness that we were not pretending to be your
friends just to get your money! 1. Thessalonians 2:3-5 NLT
This is in
contrast to the prosperity preachers who have only one thing on their minds,
and that is MONEY!!!
