Obey God And Disobey The Tithing Law (February 26, 2013)

Now the law of Moses required that the priests, who are descendants of Levi, must collect a tithe from the rest of the people of Israel, who are also descendants of Abraham. Hebrews 7:5 NLT
Yes, the old requirement about the priesthood was set aside because it was weak and useless. For the law never made anything perfect. But now we have confidence in a better hope, through which we draw near to God. This new system was established with a solemn oath. Aaron’s descendants became priests without such an oath, but there was an oath regarding Jesus. For God said to him, “The Lord has taken an oath and will not break his vow:
‘You are a priest forever.’” Because of this oath, Jesus is the one who guarantees this better covenant with God. Hebrews 7:18-21 NLT
The Old Covenant Law of Moses, which was weak and useless, required the people of Israel to give 10% of their crops to the Levite priests.
But Jesus Christ guarantees a New and better Covenant with God without the old requirement of the Law of tithing 10%!
That’s why you will see the true free disciples of Jesus Christ teach the following:
Give in proportion to what you have. Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have. Of course, I don’t mean your giving should make life easy for others and hard for yourselves. I only mean that there should be some equality. Right now you have plenty and can help those who are in need. Later, they will have plenty and can share with you when you need it. In this way, things will be equal. 2. Corinthians 8:11-14 NLT
That is why you see the first church practice what they preached! There was no Old Covenant Law of Tithing being practiced among the believers. NONE WHATSOEVER!!!
The first church knew how to take care of each other, as they followed the example of their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. Acts 2:44-45 NLT
All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God’s great blessing was upon them all. There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need. Acts 4:32-35 NLT
That’s why the true free disciples of Jesus Christ taught that those who are rich in this world should to do good with their money, give generously to those in need, and always be ready to share with others!
They did not tell the rich to tithe 10% of their gross income! EVER!!!
Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. 1. Timothy 6:17-18 NLT
The disciples of Jesus Christ also taught to pay an elder or pastor well, who does his work well.
They did not say to tithe 10% of your gross income to your elder or pastor!!!
Elders who do their work well should be respected and paid well, especially those who work hard at both preaching and teaching. For the Scripture says, “You must not muzzle an ox to keep it from eating as it treads out the grain.” And in another place, “Those who work deserve their pay!” 1. Timothy 5:17-18 NLT
But, this is what God wants you to do when it comes to giving your money:
You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives cheerfully. 2. Corinthians 9:7 NLT
It clearly says, that you must decide in your own heart how much money you should give. It is a decision between you and God, what He tells you to do!
Then you will “Obey God And Disobey The Tithing Law”!
