More Confusion And Deception (May 11, 2012)

This is what Pastor Joel Osteen of Lakewood Church in Houston also said during his recent interview on CNN’s “The Situation Room With Wolf Blitzer” about Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s Mormon faith:
“When I hear Mitt Romney say that he believes that Jesus is the Son of God — that he’s the Christ, raised from the dead, that he’s his Savior — that’s good enough for me,” the pastor proclaimed, going on to say that he wants to be “inclusive” and welcoming to those who claim they accept Christ.
While Pastor Osteen did differentiate between Mormonism and “traditional Christianity,” he maintains that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints adherents do, indeed, fall into the Christian realm. Despite some differences, Pastor Osteen claims that he sees Mormons as “brothers in Christ.”
My question to Pastor Joel Osteen is this: Just because Mitt Romney, who is a Mormon, says he believes in Jesus Christ, is that good enough for you, that you even see Mormons as your brothers in Christ? Doesn’t the Bible say in James chapter 2:19 that if “you say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror.”
The Mormon Doctrine Goes Against The Bible!
Mormonism, also known as The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints, teaches among other things that God the Father was once a man, but became God. He has a physical body, as does his wife, Heavenly Mother. There is no Trinity. Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit are three separate gods. The Holy Spirit according to the Mormon doctrine is a fluid-like substance by which the Father exercises his influence.
Mormonism also teaches that Jesus Christ is a separate god from the Father or Elohim. Jesus was created as a spirit child by the Father and Mother in Heaven, and is the “elder brother” of all men and spirit beings. Jesus’ body was created through sexual union between Elohim and Mary. Jesus was married, and His death on the cross does not provide full atonement for all sin, but does provide everyone who holds Mormon membership resurrection and eternal life. Eventually, nearly everyone goes to one of three separate heavenly “kingdoms” with some achieving godhood. Worthy men may one day become gods themselves. Apostates and murderers go to “outer darkness.” Secret temple rituals are only available for members in good standing. It is also known that people of African ancestry were not granted full access to Mormon priesthood and privileges until 1978. According to the founder of the Mormon Church, Joseph Smith, Jr. (1805-1855) dark skin is a sign of moral and spiritual inferiority that was given by God as a curse.
My question then is: Isn’t Pastor Joel Osteen supposed to know what the Bible says about those who preach another gospel and the consequences for doing so? Who are we trying to fool?
“But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:8-9 NKJV
May God have mercy upon America!
