Pastors Who Pry | Institute of Love

A pastor's responsibility is to care for the flock that God has entrusted him, by teaching and equipping God's people to do His work. (See 1. Peter 5:2, 1. Timothy 3:2 and Ephesians 4:12) What a pastor should not be doing is prying into other people's affairs and personal lives, or try to control the church members by wanting to know how much money they make and obligating them to pay a 10% tithe to the church. And unless a church member voluntarily wants to disclose his or her private information, a pastor should never be busy wanting to know intimate details of someone's sex life. It is no wonder that many pastors who love to meddle into other people's affairs ends up falling into (sexual) sin and suffering for all the wrong reasons, as the Bible says; “If you suffer, however, it must not be for murder, stealing, making trouble, or prying into other people’s affairs.” 1. Peter 4:15 NLT
