Being Comforted | Institute of Love

You can never give what don't have! It is impossible to give someone godly comfort in their troubles and sufferings, if you personally never experienced God's comfort in your own troubles. It is precisely for this reason the Bible says that God is the source of all comfort. and that He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. It even goes further to say that the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with His comfort through Christ. In this way, you are going to be able to give great comfort to others! (See 2. Corinthians 1:3-7) If you, as a believer, have never experienced God's comforting love, I pray that “our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who loved us and by His grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say.” 2. Thessalonians 2:16-17 NLT
