God Multiplies The Little You Have | Institute of Love

The prophet Elijah told the widow - who did not have a single piece of bread in the house, but only a handful of flour left in the jar and a little cooking oil in the bottom of the jug - not to be afraid, but to make a little bread for him first. Then he told her to use what was left to prepare a meal for herself and her son with the promise that there will always be flour and olive oil left in her containers until the time when the Lord sends rain and the crops grow again. And indeed, God did a miracle of multiplication! There was always enough flour and olive oil left in the containers, just as the Lord had promised through Elijah, and they all continued to eat for many days! (See 1. Kings 17:8-16) Another story of miraculous multiplication was of another widow of whom a creditor was threatening to take her two sons as slaves. The prophet Elisha asked her: “Tell me, what do you have in the house?” “Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil,” she replied. Elisha told her: “Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your friends and neighbors. Then go into your house with your sons and shut the door behind you. Pour olive oil from your flask into the jars, setting each one aside when it is filled.” So she did as she was told. Her sons kept bringing jars to her, and she filled one after another. Soon every container was full to the brim! “Bring me another jar,” she said to one of her sons. “There aren’t any more!” he told her. And then the olive oil stopped flowing. When she told the man of God what had happened, he said to her: “Now sell the olive oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on what is left over.” (See 2. Kings 4:1-7) Jesus fed thousands of people by multiplying a young boy's lunch of five barley loaves and two fish. And there was even plenty left over. (See John 6:1-14) GOD CAN ALSO MULTIPLY THE LITTLE THAT YOU HAVE AND CAUSE YOU TO HAVE PLENTY!!!
