King David knew what he was talking about when he wrote; “commit everything you do to the Lord.
Trust Him, and He will help you.” Psalm 37:5 NLT  One time, instead of trusting and relying on God, King David wanted to know how much army power he had, so he took a census and thereby caused the anger of the Lord to burn against Israel. He was eager to know how many capable warriors there was in Israel and Judah who could handle the sword. Despite being warned by his chief commander Joab, who told him; “May the Lord your God let you live to see a hundred times as many people as there are now! But why, my lord the king, do you want to do this?”, David still insisted, and stubbornly went ahead with the counting of people. But after he had taken the census, David’s conscience began to bother him and he said to the Lord, “I have sinned greatly by taking this census. Please forgive my guilt, Lord, for doing this foolish thing.” Because of David's sin, the Lord sent a plague that ended up killing a total of 70.000 people throughout the nation. (See 2. Samuel 24:1-25)  Isn't it amazing that whatever you put your trust in, God ends up taking it away from you! Therefore, we have a great responsibility in how we walk with God, because “when someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.” Luke 12:48 NLT
