Encourage Yourself | Institute of Love

When King David was going through some very painful times in his life, he prayed; “why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad?
I will put my hope in God! I will praise Him again—my Savior and my God!” Psalm 43:5-6 NLT David was basically encouraging himself through the discouragement, by taking a new grip with his tired hands and strengthening his weak knees, marking out a straight path for his feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong. (See Hebrews 12:12-13) This is how we should be building ourselves up on our most holy faith when we go through the difficulties, testings, and discouragements of life by praying and praising God like David did in the Holy Spirit. In this way, we will keep ourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. (See Jude 1:20-21)
