The Prosperity Gospel Known For 2000 Years | Institute of Love

Jesus already warned us 2000 years ago about people following the Prosperity Gospel, when He explained the meaning of the parable of the farmer scattering seed, saying that, “the seed that fell among the thorns represents people who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life, the lure of wealth, and the desire for other things, so no fruit is produced.” Mark 4:18-19 NLT  As you can see, the Prosperity Gospel doctrine is extremely deceptive and self-centered because it tells you that becoming rich is the will of God for Christians and that faith, positive speech, sowing money seeds, and giving donations to Christian ministries will always increase your material wealth. It is all about using God to have Him give you what you want, and have Him take care of your own personal well-being. It is no wonder, as Jesus said, that these people don't produce any spiritual fruit! But the true Gospel of Jesus Christ is not about selfishness and greed, but it is about the seed that fell on good soil, which represents those who hear and accept God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted! (See Mark 4:20) And these are the fruits: “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” Galatians 5:22-23 NLT
