Demon-Possessed? | Institute of Love

Instead of you being controlled by the Spirit of God living in you (See Romans 8:9), you can be a slave or possessed to whatever is controlling you. (See 2. Peter 2:19) In other words, demons have the upper hand in your life and are oppressing you, and you are not able to control them! Even when you repent from certain sins or wrong behavior and have the best wishes not to do them anymore, you find yourself still doing them over and over again. You promise not to be busy with cyber-sex ever again, and yet you can't stop yourself visiting porn sites on the computer. You beg your wife to forgive you for hitting her, and yet you keep beating her every time you get angry. You know that telling lies is wrong, but you keep on lying and exaggerating. You are well aware that you are in financial debt, but you obsessively keep on shopping and spending. And so the list goes on and on. Whether you call yourself a Christian or not, you are basically demon-possessed and in dire need of deliverance. The apostle Paul struggled with this same issue of being a slave of sin when he said; “I want to do what is right, but I can’t. I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway. There is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord,” - Romans 7:18-19 and 23-25 NLT - “who went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.” Acts 10:38 NLT
