10% Mentality | Institute of Love

As we have indicated on numerous occasions in our studies and blogs; God does not require at all from New Testament believers in Jesus Christ to tithe 10% of their income! Christians, who do tithe, are legalistically chained with an Old Testament law given to Israel at a specific time for a specific purpose. Tithing was instituted for the tribe of Levi, that the priests came from, so they would have a source of income. (See Malachi 3:8-12) I heard this from someone the other day and this is so on the money; when you faithfully give 10%, you also faithfully keep 90%! This produces a 10% mentality. God doesn't want your measly 10%! He lovingly desires 100% of you! 100% of your heart surrendered to Him! That is why New Testament believers are being taught the following; “you must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.” 2. Corinthians 9:7-8 NLT
