Are You An Idol Worshiper? | Institute of Love

Are you an idol worshiper? Meaning, other things are more important or have become more important than God in your life, such as money, career, social networking, sports, music, entertainment, people, friends, relationships, family, or even ministry. Worshiping idols, or the things of this world, is the same as being a greedy person, and this a serious offense against God who is a jealous God (see James 4:5) who warns us that “you can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the anger of God will fall on all who disobey him.” Ephesians 5:5-6 NLT
God richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment (see 1. Timothy 6:17), but we must never become a slave to anything, loving other things more than God, causing Him to become jealous and resisting you! (See 1. Corinthians 6:12) Or, as the apostle Paul testified; “I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” Philippians 3:7-8 NLT
