A True Christian | Institute of Love

A True Christian | Institute of Love

Being a true follower of Christ is all about actions that speaks louder than words! A true Christian knows what real love is because Jesus gave up His life for us. That's why a true Christian also gives up his or her life for his or her brothers and sisters. A true Christian doesn't understand how it is possible for someone who has enough money to live well, to show no compassion when he sees a brother or sister in need. How can God’s love be in that person, the true Christian would ask? (See 1. John 3:16-17)

When God’s people are in need, the true Christian is ready to help them. He or she is always eager to practice hospitality. (See Romans 12:13) The true Christian cheerfully shares his or her home with those who need a meal or a place to stay. (See 1. Peter 4:9) Because, “what good is it, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?” James 2:14-16 NLT

It is essential that Christians who are rich in this world are taught not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. They need to be told to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. By doing this, they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life. (See 1. Timothy 6:17-19)  They “should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Acts 20:35 NLT
