Warning | Institute of Love

There is always going to be people like Achan, who during a battle stole a beautiful robe from Babylon, 200 silver coins, and a bar of gold weighing more than a pound. These were things God specifically commanded to be set apart for Him. (See Joshua 7:1-26)  Or Gehazi, the servant of the prophet Elisha who said to himself: “My master should not have let Naaman get away without accepting any of his gifts. As surely as the Lord lives, I will chase after him and get something from him.”  Gehazi took more than 75 pounds of silver coins and two sets of clothing from Naaman for himself, pretending it was Elisha who asked for it to so-called give it to two young prophets who just arrived. (See 2. Kings 5:20-27)  Or Judas Iscariot, who was in charge of Jesus' disciples money. He often stole some for himself. (See John 12:6)  Or Ananias and Sapphira, who sold some property and brought part of the  money to the apostles, claiming it was the full amount. (See Acts 5:1-10)  In the end all these people were exposed, some were struck with terrible sickness and others paid with their lives. These things happened as a warning to us, so that we would not crave stuff or do evil things as they did! (See 1. Corinthians 10:6)
