Tithing Does Not Keep The Devourer Away! | Institute of Love

You are a well-known pastor of a large congregation, and every Sunday before taking the offering, you quote your members the Old Testament law passage of Malachi 3:8-11 that says; “Will a man rob God?
Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse,
for you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,
that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts,
“If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes.” Based on this scripture, you falsely explain to your church members how important and detrimental it is not to rob God, but pay at least a 10% tithe of your gross income into the storehouse, which according to you is the church, in order to be protected against the devourer and be blessed in your finances, marriage, family, work, and every other area of your life! But then, one day, you find yourself standing in front of your congregation, confessing that your wife of twenty some years had multiple affairs for a span of five years! What happened? How come the tithing didn't propel God to rebuke to devourer from destroying your marriage, as you yourself so often preached? This tells me again how ridiculous and deceptive this whole “must” tithe doctrine is. Tithing was and is NEVER meant for the New Testament believer, instead the Bible teaches that; “You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.” 2. Corinthians 9:7-8 NLT
