Did You Ever Hear Your Pastor Or A Televangelist Teach This? (February 18, 2013)

Give in proportion to what you have. Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have. Of course, I don’t mean your giving should make life easy for others and hard for yourselves. I only mean that there should be some equality. Right now you have plenty and can help those who are in need. Later, they will have plenty and can share with you when you need it. In this way, things will be equal. 2. Corinthians 8:11-14 NLT
But those who won’t care for their relatives, especially those in their own household, have denied the true faith. Such people are worse than unbelievers. 1. Timothy 5:8 NLT
Or, did you ever hear your pastor or a televangelist make reference to the scripture in 2. Corinthians 9:9 NLT, that says:
They share freely and give generously to the poor.Their good deeds will be remembered forever.
My answer is NO!!! The majority of pastors and televangelists falsely teach about the legalistic obligatory giving of 10% of your gross money income to their church or ministry, promising all sorts of financial blessings in return. Because of this deceptive teaching, many give money they don't have! They are being pressured by these pastors and televangelists to make financial pledges (a promise to give a certain amount at a later time when funds have come in), or even to put their 10% tithing’s and offerings on their credit cards. As a result, many are not able to take care of their own households and therefore become a bad testimony to those around them.
These pastors and televangelists are supposed to be an example of those who share freely and give generously to the poor!!!
